Bedside instruction in English and citizenship at the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society (JCRS). The JCRS was a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients that was founded in 1904 by a group of immigrant Jewish workingmen along with the support of several leading physicians and rabbis in Denver, Colorado. The sanatorium was located on West Colfax Avenue just outside of Denver.

Initially it was an infirmary for adults but later became the Department of Pediatrics. A gymnasium, two classrooms, recreation and rehabilitation facilities were later added.

A group of children in one of the classrooms at National Jewish Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Teachers were provided by the Denver Public School System and young patients were able to complete all grade and high school requirements while admitted to the hospital.

The Home's history began in 1907 as a refuge for lower-income children whose parents were being treated for tuberculosis, or had passed away from tuberculosis. It has changed names several times, changing its focus to asthmatic children in 1953.
